Dr. Smalyuk Nataliya is a renowned ophthalmologist with an impressive career in the field of ophthalmology. She was born on October 13, 1951, in Shmerinka, Vinnytsia Oblast, Ukraine. Dr. Smalyuk began her medical education in 1968 at the Medical Pirogov Institute in Vinnytsia and graduated in 1974.
After completing her degree, Dr. Smalyuk worked as a clinical resident in ophthalmology at the Clinical Hospital in Vinnytsia (Ukraine) and completed specialization courses in pediatric ophthalmology at the Institute for Improvement of Doctors in Kyiv and in accommodative spasm at the Institute for Improvement of Doctors in Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine). From 1975 to 1978, she worked as a pediatric ophthalmologist in the Eye Department of the Children's Hospital in Chernihiv (Ukraine).
Dr. Smalyuk furthered her knowledge in ophthalmology by completing her clinical residency from 1978 to 1980 at the Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy in Odessa. She then worked as an ophthalmologist in the Keratoplasty Department from 1980 to 1982 and as a scientific worker in the Problem Laboratory of Ultrasound from 1982 to 1986.
In 1986, Dr. Smalyuk received her Ph.D. with a candidate dissertation entitled "Experimental justification and clinical application of phonophoresis photoraphur in the treatment of endogenous uveitis". She received the diploma of Candidate of Medical Sciences and worked as a scientific worker in the Children's Department of Eye Microsurgery from 1986 to 1991.
Dr. Smalyuk also worked abroad and was an ophthalmologist at the Eye Hospital in Tripoli, Libya, from 1991 to 1996. From 1996 to 1999, she worked as an assistant at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Advanced Training of Physicians at the Medical University in Odessa (Ukraine). From 2000 to 2006, she worked in the Eye Laboratory of MR. Prim.em. Prof. Dr. Paul Drobec.
Since 2006, Dr. Smalyuk has been operating her own practice in Traiskirchen and specializes in pediatric ophthalmology, congenital cataract surgery, glaucoma, ptosis, diagnosis, and treatment of retinoblastoma, genetically determined eye pathology, as well as ultrasound diagnostics.
Dr. Smalyuk speaks Ukrainian, Russian, German, medical English, and Arabic and has published 62 scientific papers, 1 patent certificate, and several methodological recommendations. She has performed 1,500 surgeries at the Filatov Institute.
